Tuesdays 4:45 - 5:40 PM August 19 - December 9 No class Nov 25 Recital is Tuesday December 9 In "Express Yourself," students will gain a fantastic foundation in both acting and the magical art of improvisation. We guide students through engaging exercises that teach them to think on their feet, trust their instincts, and embrace the unexpected. This class isn't just about putting on a show; it's about empowering kids to express themselves authentically and fearlessly, making new friends, and developing essential life skills in a supportive and fun setting. Specifically, our improv curriculum targets a variety of valuable skills crucial for both stage and life: • Active Listening: Learning to truly hear and respond to others' ideas. • "Yes, And" Acceptance: Building on ideas rather than shutting them down, fostering collaboration. • Spontaneity and Quick Thinking: Reacting in the moment and generating ideas on the spot. • Confidence and Risk-Taking: Overcoming fear of judgment and embracing new challenges. • Storytelling and Narrative Building: Creating compelling plots and characters collaboratively. • Character Development: Exploring different personalities, voices, and physicalities. • Teamwork and Collaboration: Working effectively with others to achieve a common goal. • Problem-Solving: Finding creative solutions to unexpected situations. • Emotional Expression and Empathy: Understanding and conveying a range of emotions, and recognizing them in others. • Flexibility and Adaptability: Adjusting to changes and new information in a fluid environment. Class requires a minimum of 3 registered students to avoid cancellation.
