Mondays 2 - 4 pm August 11 - November 18 No class Sept 1, Oct 13 Once the record-holder for the longest running play worldwide, the highly entertaining Charley’s Aunt has been translated and adapted numerous times into operas, movies, TV films, and musical plays. This skillfully adapted farce is a highly accessible, easy-to-understand one act that retains all the humor of the original work. Victorian-era university students Jack and Charley are both in love and plan to propose to their respective girlfriends, Kitty and Amy. They invite the girls over to meet Charley’s millionaire aunt, Donna Lucia d’Alvadorez of Brazil, who just happens to be planning to visit Charley for the first time. But when the aunt cancels at the last minute, the boys enlist feckless friend and fellow Oxford student, Fancourt “Babbs” Babberly — dressed in costume as a woman for an amateur play — to impersonate Charley’s aunt and clear the way for the boys’ marriage proposals. Soon, however, Babbs as Charley’s aunt finds himself juggling fawning admirers Kitty and Amy, along with the fortune-driven advances of two would-be suitors. When the real Donna Lucia comes to town incognito to check up on her nephew, hilarious hijinks and cat-and-mouse fun ensue! On Stage Ready is proud to announce that Charley's Aunt will be a fully produced play for actors aged 8-17. Directed by Hannah Olsen, rehearsals for will be held on Mondays from 2 pm to 4 pm beginning August 11. Technical and dress rehearsals will be Wednesday November 19 and Thursday November 20 from 5 pm - 7:30 pm. The public performances will be at On Stage Ready's outdoor stage on Friday November 21 at 7:00 pm and Saturday November 22 at 7:00 pm. Sunday, November 23 at 7:00 pm will be held as an alternate performance date should inclement weather cause any one of the scheduled performances to be cancelled. Actors should be available for all technical and dress rehearsals as well as performance and alternate performance dates. Students in this course should be available to attend all rehearsals, and any conflicts will need to be given to the director by week 2. Students should bring labeled water bottle to each rehearsal and wear comfortable clothing for movement. Course tuition includes 15 sessions, actor's script, show t shirt, costume(s), and fun! Deposit of $125 due at registration, additional tuition of $100 due on September 1, October 1, and November 1. Minimum class size: 10. Ten roles are available.
