Taught by Louis Ontko, our Beginning Group Piano class is designed specifically for students ages 8–10, blending the discipline of piano technique with the social excitement of making music with peers. We believe that learning music is more rewarding when shared. By keeping our groups small, we ensure that every child receives the individual attention they need to master proper hand position and reading music, while benefiting from the collaborative energy of a group setting. Students will not only learn to play the piano but will also develop essential ensemble skills, such as listening, timing, and playing together—all in a supportive, pressure-free atmosphere. What Your Child Will Learn Our curriculum focuses on building a strong, versatile musical foundation: Keyboard Fluency: Learning the layout of the keys, finger numbering, and proper posture. Music Literacy: How to read rhythms, notes on the staff, and musical symbols. Technique: Developing coordination, dexterity, and a beautiful tone. Creative Exploration: Introductory improvisation and ear-training exercises that make music feel like play. Performance Confidence: Short, weekly opportunities to share music with the group, building poise for the future winter recital. Class Details Age Range: 8–10 years old (perfect for developing focus and fine motor skills). Class Size: Limited to three students to guarantee personalized guidance. Duration: One 55 minute session per week. Materials: Mr. Louis will provide purchase information for the appropriate "Piano Adventures" curriculum book. Students simply need an acoustic piano or a weighted-key digital keyboard at home for practice. Deposit of $300 due at registration, additional tuition of $200 due on September 1, October 1, and November 1.
