Taught by Louis Ontko, Beginning Group Guitar class is the perfect place to start! Designed specifically for ages 8–10, this course turns the intimidating process of learning an instrument into an exciting, hands-on musical adventure. Why Small Group Guitar? Guitar is meant to be played with others! Our small group setting allows students to learn the fundamentals in a social environment. By practicing alongside peers, students naturally develop their sense of rhythm and listening skills, all while having fun and building confidence in a supportive, low-pressure space. What Your Child Will Learn Our curriculum balances technical skill-building with the fun of playing recognizable songs: The Basics of the Instrument: How to hold the guitar, proper posture, and the anatomy of the instrument (tuning, strings, and frets). Essential Techniques: Mastering basic finger placement, how to hold a pick, and clear, comfortable strumming patterns. Chords & Rhythm: Introducing chords that allow students to start playing their favorite songs almost immediately, alongside basic time-keeping and counting. Music Fundamentals: Learning how to read chord diagrams and simple tablature so they can continue learning new songs at home. Ensemble Skills: Learning to play in time with others, a critical skill for any aspiring musician. Class Details Age Range: 8–10 years old (geared toward developing fine motor skills and musical focus). Class Size: Strictly limited to three students to ensure personalized attention for every player. Duration: On weekly 55 minute session per week. Requirements: Students should have their own guitar to practice at home. Mr. Louis can help with suggestions on appropriate models for students needing a guitar. Class Details Age Range: 8–10 years old (perfect for developing focus and fine motor skills). Class Size: Limited to three students to guarantee personalized guidance. Duration: One 55 minute session per week. Materials: Mr. Louis will provide purchase information for the appropriate "Piano Adventures" curriculum book. Students simply need an acoustic piano or a weighted-key digital keyboard at home for practice. Deposit of $300 due at registration, additional tuition of $200 due on September 1, October 1, and November 1.
